About the Event

This Call for Code initiative brings together IBM and Black Girls CODE Tech divas to create practical, effective, and quality applications based on IBM Cloud and AI technologies that can have an immediate and lasting impact on humanitarian issues. The two main goals:

1. Activate Black Girls CODE Tech Divas, i.e., #futuretechbosses, and IBM developers and professionals to create practical solutions to global problems using IBM technology.

2. Create learning opportunities that engage Black Girls CODE #futuretechbosses to refine their 21st-century job skills.

What is the Call for Code Black Girls CODE Challenge topic?

There are two main topics that students can choose: Climate Change or Racial Justice.

When is the Call for Code Challenge: Exploring solutions for Climate Change and Racial Justice 2021?

Friday, June 25 to Sunday, June 27

Friday - 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (EST)

Saturday - 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (EST)

Sunday - 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM (EST) There will be a kickoff event on May 24, 2021, to learn more about this unique Call for Code Challenge for Black Girls CODE as well as two design thinking workshops on June 8 & 10 and a specially curated Learning Path for you to be successful in this Call for Code Challenge.

Who can participate in a hackathon?

The Call for Code Challenge is open to students between the ages of 7-17 years old. The hackathon is chapter-based focused, we encourage students from our East Coast Black Girls CODE chapters to participate: Detroit, Atlanta, Raleigh-Durham, Miami, New York, Washington DC, Boston.

What’s the cost?

The hackathon is free to participants.
